CASSIDY GEARHART

BIOGRAPHY

Cassidy has faced down a tornado, tumbled two stories from the top of a train, screamed lead vocals in a punk band, moved into a monastery, moved out of a monastery, and survived to tell the tales. Born in Kalamazoo and raised in Annapolis, he spent a decade in New York City before recently relocating to downtown Los Angeles.

Cass’s filmmaking aesthetics are forged from a multidisciplinary background as an editor, designer, writer, and animator. His work expresses the emotional landscapes of characters via graphic exploration; with an interplay of external lines, colors and textures, Cassidy seeks to illustrate the interior dramas at play in his films. Drawing from a deep well of creative interests, his body of work embodies the spirit of various DIY cultures: hardcore-punk, skateboarding, zine making and experimental filmmaking.

He has directed pieces for Toyota, GE, Ford, Nike, AT&T, Mercedes-Benz and CVS Health, among others. He is currently working on his first feature, a musical essay film in collaboration with artist Bryan Scary.
